How to Make Hair Butter

Hey guys,

As you guys know, I make my own shampoo and I’ve had such great success with it, I decided to try my luck at making something else. Last week, I made a hair butter and it left my hair feeling soft even up to now. Here’s what I used:

  • Shea Butter
  • Carrot Seed Oil
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Argan Oil

Here’s how you can make the hair butter.

  1. Boil some water and pour it in a container.
  2. Either scoop out some shea butter and add it to a smaller bowl or put the container of shea butter directly in boiling water. Be sure not to get any water in it.
  3. When the shea butter is malleable enough add your oils and mix it. You can either use a hand mixer or a spoon like I did. Mix it until it’s smooth.
  4. Apply to hair as a sealant.

You can use any oils you have, I used those because that’s what I had on hand. You also don’t need to add that many oils, one or two is perfectly fine. I got all these items at Earth Elements except the carrot seed oil I bought at Discount.

You can check out the graphics below so you can know which oil you should add to achieve your hair goals or address any problems you have.

  1. I usually use raw shea butter and castor oil (once I have it) on my hair, never thought of whipping them together. I’ll try buying one or two aromatic carrier oils to make the mixture smell good then give this a try. Thanks!
